JAN LEE LUMKIN
ARTIST AND AUTHOR

Award winning artist Jan Lee Lumkin resides in Fallbrook, California.  She is an artist and poet, who has combined her talents in her recently published book called: A TIME BEYOND....

Her mediums are oil and acrylic.  Subjects include: Wildlife, Landscape, Still-life and Portraiture.

In 2005, Jan was invited to show her wildlife paintings at the Natural History Museum at Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.  Her painting called "PUZZLING", is a painting set in the rain-forests of Rwanda.  It shows the plight of the Mountain Gorills and their loss of habitat.  It was offered as a giclee print  #1 in a series of 650.  It sold to a well-known conservation patron of the National History Museum.  Also, Ed Zieraiski from the San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper, gave the following review, "Jan Lee Lumkin's "Puzzling" a painting of an african scene that stopped me and made me look".

Jan is now working with concerned groups to raise funds to save the rain-forests and it's inhabitants.  She is contributing a portion of her sales to foundations that are dedicated to saving all living things on the spectacular planet.

"As far back as I can remember, my passion has been art and poetry.  All things, animate and inanimate have a tale to tell.  My mind can supersede all rational thoughts and arrive at some fantastic conclusions formed in a place I like to call "My Nurturing Soul".  It is a comfortable place, lacking prejudice, where my creativity flows through the mysterious realm of  "I wonder" and "What if"?  Whether asleep or awake, I often find inspiration in my dreams.  I have found that in my, sometimes turbulent and glorious life, that the inner and outer universe is a very special space indeed.  Simply filled with endless possibilities.  Patient observation is my greatest tool.  At sunset, I watch gray tree branches turn into gold and various shades of orange, violet and blue, and I am ispired by the glory of nature's variations.  When I paint a portrait, I search behind the mask (the face) to find that inner beauty waiting for recognition".
